Hyper Inflation Introduction Hyper inflation has plagued most of the world's developing countries over the past decades. Countries in the industrialised world, too, have at times duelled with dangerously high inflation rates in the post WWII era. With varying degrees of success, all have employed great efforts to bring their inflation rates within acceptable limits. Generally, a moderate rate of inflation has been the ultimate goal. More recently, however, a few countries have pursued policies that strive to eradicate inflation altogether through complete price stability. This has proven to be a contentious enterprise, which clearly indicates that there is still no universally accepted solution to the inflation problem. Indeed, there is not even an agreed consensus regarding the source of inflation itself. The monetarist perception that the root of inflation is solely the excessive creation of money remains. So too does the belief that inflation originates in the labour market. And amongst a variety of others, the opinion that inflation ?serves the critical social purpose of resolving incompatible demands by different groups? is also strong. Most governments have approved the use of these technologies in their countries. United Kingdom for example, has made it mandatory for passengers to pass through covert body scanners. A passenger is not allowed to fly should he or she refuse to be screened with these machines. United States has become a major target by terrorists. Terror attacks have led to lose of lives and destruction of property. Since the United States is the world’s most profitable drug market, law enforcers face difficulty in monitoring all illegal drug activities within the country and across its border. Currently, United States uses body scans that make use of radio waves to scan passengers. This technology only detects metals. Other substances like drugs cannot be detected by these machines. Covert body scanners such as backscatter and millimeter wave units, use x-ray technology to scre en what is underneath people’s clothes. it can detect both metallic and non-metallic materials. In order to deal with these challenges, it necessary for the government to introduce covert body scans to help the law enforcer identify and apprehend offenders. Question Two With the current developments in information technology, hackers can use hidden wireless devices to intrude an institution’s security system. Private and government institutions such as the Central Intelligence Agency, should install covert body scans at the entrances and exits of their buildings to protect their information. These technologies should be installed in all major bus stops, airports, seaports, railway stations and entrances to public events. United States Custom and Border Protection should be equipped with these machines to screen those who are entering and leaving the country. Question Three Transportation Security Administration, which is an agency of the Department of Homeland Security, should involve the private sector in the implementation and testing of these technologies. The two sectors will jointly benefit from increased data sharing. Security screening in many airports is undertaken by security firms from the private industry. Their engagement will bring in additional expertise and resources in all domains associated with the development of these technologies. The government will also have additional political support to ensure full implementation of the technologies. Question Four Introduction of covert body scans in all vital public transportation stations and public event entrances will provide an additional layer of security. They will help detect hidden money, drugs, weapons and other illegal materials. The police will be able to arrest the people transporting these materials before they can smuggle them into the country. Question Five The events of September 11 remain memorial to all Americans. Nineteen al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four different passenger airplanes and crashed them in different places within the country. On that fateful day, 3,000 passengers and 227 civilians died in the attack. The hijackers were supposedly in possession of box-cutter knives, which they used to intimidate the passengers and cabin crew. In a more recent event, a gunman hijacked a Texas City bus on April 2013 and forced the police into a 30-mile chase before shooting himself. These lives would not have been lost if only these covert body scans were installed at the airports and bus stops. This is because the covert body scans could have detected the weapons before the hijackers carried them into the planes or buses.
